So here’s a quick sketch of a Porsche 928 I just did, in a poor tribute, thinking about the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

I’m British so we set our sites low, if we do better then great but if not ‘hey there’s always tomorrow’. Lol.

That is totally not how my experience of the British mindset is.

If that’s true, it’s awfully reframing.

Reminds me of this quote from a movie (or TV show I don’t remember) where one of the characters say, “we all struggle as we grow older and we must accept the crushing reality to what our childhood dreams were.”

It was more a ‘tongue in cheek’ reply. As a rule we are a balanced bunch between pessimistic and optimistic. We are optimistic but if things don’t go as well or as expected we say ‘hey, will try harder next time’ or ‘I need to re-approach this’, we don’t let it overly affect us. We accept we didn’t achieve what we wanted and then try again and not dwell on it.

It like the old school joke.

Teacher’s report card: Student lacks motivation, he aspires to be mediocre.

That you wish you were a fraction as good as closer to being what you wanted want to be.

FTFY

We’re all works in progress. One of the things parents usually forget to tell their kids is that, as a wise man guy once said, shit happens. No one can escape Murphy’s Law forever.

For instance, it would have been nice to know as a daydreaming ten year old that developing acute bipolar disorder at 16 makes figuring out how to hold down a job and get through school take a few years longer. To be able to adjust expectations, time wise, accordingly would have been nice. Most of us aren’t going to be silicon valley billionaires at 19.

A lifetime is quite a bit longer than most movies, and therefore achieving your real life dreams requires more than a 30 second montage .

This is very, very far from my first rodeo. Like I said, just one of those days. But the picture you posted depicts truths. good for kids to know.

Oh I’m sure. The skills to do a rendering like that are not acquired quickly or easily.

But I’ve found that it never hurts to remind myself of truths like these.

I forget the exact question, but Adam Hughes answered: “Not being able to realized the Sistine Chapel in my head.”

Yep.
